I've been looking for a rifle for my wife and think I just found it tonight. If no one has beat me to the punch, I am going to soon own a Remington 700 LVSF in .17 Remington. Anyway, what factory ammo do you guys prefer through your 17's?Posted Image

Heath I have used HSM ammo alot and have had good luck with it. They will load 20 or 25 v-max or a H-P 25's. I think the last time I bought some they were around 55/100. If you'd like to try some I can send you a box of 50. Dale

I got a 700 classic with a pencil barrel and it shoots MOA with no problem with Remington factory 25 hp ammo. I have killed a lot of coyotes with it and that combo and have only lost one and have had two spinners with it. She will love it, there is no recoil and the noise is a loud crack and not an ear shattering boom, also you can shoot and watch everything happen through the scope which is another plus. And on top of it all it doesn't blow the hides up like most 22's... I don't need to hear about how fur friendly 22's are as I have shot too many coyotes with 22 centerfires to convince me otherwise.Walt

Yea, and if she doesn't like it I will !! I've got over a 1000 rounds of 223 brass so eventually I will be able to reload for it as well. I am still waiting to hear back from the guy though, so it isn't for sure yet.

Thanks for the offer! I stilll need to get mounts and a scope mounted, not to mention the 10 day CA jail time. I am going to see if the local gunshop or maybe Wal-Mart has them.Do you guys buy ammo for it online? I searched Cabela's last night and couldn't find any there.

Well heck, it didn't say that when I was there the first time. But I just checked and it does now. Darn! ;) I guess you'll just have to load your own. They are the most expensive round to buy for what you get. :P

Well I guess I should tell the wife she needs to buy her ammo! Midway USA has it for $17.99 per 20 plus the HAZMAT. If they had the primers I needed I'd just order the ammo, primers and some powder all at once. No dice this time, I guess.

The little brown truck should drop it off at my FFL tomorrow! DROS is done, now I just have to let it do its jail time. ;)
