Would a 80 grain hollow point be a good frangible bullet in the 243.? I am looking for something that dies when it hits the ground for urban work. I would like to stay in the 80 grain range because i like to also shoot the 80 grain soft points. I really dont know if it is even an issue with 80 grain bullets, but would rather be safe than sorry. Any thoughts?

I'd look at the 80gr Sierra Blitz.

I have these 80gr sbt from sierra, they made a HUGE hole in a coyote last christmas, so I assume they are thin skinned. The VG's are certainly explosive, not quite as wonderful as a ballistic tip at 4000fps but hey, still quite accurate.what is the rifle? if its a tikka, I think I posted my loads awhile back - run a search on grenades...

The blitz is a frangible bullet "as requested". They are relatively inexpensive and usually shoot pretty well. I've shot a bunch of coyotes with them out of my 6mm...it kills em. As usual, how you hit them makes the biggest difference in pelt damage, a high or low hit will probably be messy.

I have used Hornady 75 Gr. hollow points. Every coyote I have shot was dead. Don't expect to save the fur though.

Thanks all. I am going to try all the options stated above. with the urban spread around here I like a bullet that will die when hitting the ground. shot-guns are ok, however more often than i like ," a shotgun leaves you wishing". the other evening I called a coyote in to have her bust out at 35 yards. Gave her a round goinng away . My dogs found it several hundred yards from the shot. this particular coyote stood broadside at 50 for several minutes.
