I am having this bobcat mounted and wanted to solicit ideas for a pose to have her mounted in to really show off those colors of hers. What do you think?Posted Image

My buddy in Alturas does taxidermy and he had a real nice one of a bobcat leaping into the air after a chucker real neat. Even one going after a rabbit would be cool.

What he said. Maybe not leaping, but on it's hind legs reaching out claws extended for a fleeing pheasant or chuckar or something like that. I've seen one like that before and it was super neat. It had a piece of rough cedar in the background with some long stem grass.

Hey aren't you forgetting some thing? What is the hunting story? Was it jumping? Was it chaseing or coming into the call? Don't you want the pose to be what it really was when you harvested it? Where did you get it?

The story is HERE. I got it down in TX and we actually saw it while driving and running the light. Yes, I do want to close to the position it was in when I shot, but I also really want the spots on its back to show.

I had a wall mount rug done of a bobcat I shot in the Bakersfield area. The head was an open mouth mount with the body spread eagled with a burgandy and leather trim. I do not have pictures. A lab that I had decided he wanted to make a chewy out of it one day while we were out. He climbed to the back of the couch and pulled it off the wall. Couldn't really be mad at him he was a very good retriever. The wall mount fit my wallet at the time. Contact Fox Fur USA for some rug ideas.

It has to be a wall mount because of kids and pets. That said, walking on a piece of wood would look good because it would show off the nice belly spots on it. Jumping mount look good from a distance but then you have to do an open mouth. I've never seen an open mouthed mount that looks natural. Just my opinion but I've seen a few. :D

Thanks, John. I guess I should have mentioned I had toddlers and dogs. I agree, I don't like them with an open mouth.

No, it's from Flintridge Taxidermy. Looks nice though. That's the kind of mount I like. :(

You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

I got a phone call from my taxidermist today and he is going to skin my bobcat and fox out tomorrow! After he gets them skinned he'll get the skulls packed up and headed out to Switch to get cleaned by his beetles. Whoot!!!He said that he had a few ideas for that bobcat mount and he is going to send me a couple of pictures for me to consider. After I got off the phone I realized I should have asked how long it was going to take... No worries, they will get done when he's finished, I guess !!
