Just did our hunt'n gig at my brother's place near Fletcher. Had a great time. Hey Tim, still lots of jacks left.I din't have time the other day to write very much. The trip was very successful though. Many Jacks at the property, as usual. Ryan has his favorite hunting shoes on.The first day we spotted two yotes at the turnoff of the paved road onto the county dirt road. They were working the meadow. By the time I slowed down to a stop they were almost 200 yards away. They headed into the willows that border the Walker River. I called for about a minute and one of them emerged from the cover a few times, but it kept moving in and out attempting to get a quick glimpse of the squawking.Didn't see any others until the day we left. We were on the highway about two miles from where we saw the ones the previous time. I glanced out the window and there was a real dark one laying in the center of the meadow sunning himself. I continued up the road another mile to the turnoff of the ranch house. The folks were home, so I introduced myself and told them what I saw. They were very nice to me, but the owner said he and a buddy call yotes out there from time to time. They did thank me for asking first, and took one of my cards. They said they would keep me in mind if they changed their mind in the furture.Even though they didn't let me shoot on their property, I felt I did the right thing. The guy was in his late seventies, and who knows, he might just let me have a stab at them some time in the future when he doesn't want to do that sort of thing any more. he was saying that he lets his buddy do all of the calling now because his hearing isn't good any more.Anyway , that was our three days - sun, patchy snow, and all the jacks we wanted to chase.dbPosted ImagePosted Image

That is so cool. As HOG said, that is a great time to start them, and the proof is in the smiles. They couldn't be bigger!!

Thats realy cool  Point Blank do you ever have shoes on ? B)
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

It's funny. He didn't get up with me when it was still 25 degrees, but an hour after sunrise he was ready to "Go get'm" It's quieter without shoes, don't you think? Maybe you should try it. You can get more Jacks/day. Sure doesn't work for me. I can't walk 50 feet in the desert without shoes.db

I know someone who is a native CA indian. He uses them for ceremonies. Heck, it is way faster than skinning the whole darn thing. :P It is funny to have to procure the rabbits for the native indians. I guess they have lost the knack of hunting or it is not natively politically correct. I had one native indian who wanted to give me 25 cents/pelt. I couldn't even con Point Blank into that one. . . He says they can either have ears, or get their bows and arrows out and get their own. B) Fair enough.db
