Fellow Hunters and Shooters, first of all I would like to thank Shooter John, for letting me join in with my kind of People. To describle a little about myself. My name is Ryan Woody I am 26 yrs old, and I live in the Palm Springs area. I have lived out in California for since August 3rd of 1997, That was the first day I stepped on the yellow footprints at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (San Diego). I worked my way up threw the Marines as a Machine gunner. I spent alot of time with Machine guns, I was a Machine gun instructor for about 2 yrs, before I got re injured (tractor accident before the Marines) and was medically discharged from the Marines, after 5 yrs. During the Corps. I married my lovely wife and had two children. After discharge we decieded to stay in Southen Californa, because my wifes family lives in the area. I am origanally from Upper Michigan, a little town on Lake Huron called Oscoda, in Oscoda there is nothing to do but fish and hunt. This is where I developed my passion for the Outdoors. I learned to do alot from Ice fishing to my favorite which is Bow Hunting. Out here in the desert I have a hard time dealing with this climate, as well as the open terrain. I have most of my hunting stuff out here, but there is so much that I need to learn about hunting in the desert. It is so different from the Great Northern Woods. Also what is hard for me is all the Laws and how expensive it is out here to participate in the hunting and fishing. I bowhunted last Oct. in Mi. (actually it was suppose to be a vacation, but it just happend to be in bowhunting season) (great planning on my behave) ( I tricked her)!. Anyhow and for me to do what I wanted it seemed alot cheaper then being a resident and trying to hunt out here. but whatever. I will suffer along with everyone else. Anyhow. If any of you would like to hook up with me. I promise I won't be a drag. I am willing to travel if needed. Im looking for some good friends. Thanks for your time! ;) Sincerly Ryan Woodyonce upon a time back in the woods in Mi. they use to call me aka (WoodyWoodyThumpThump), don't ask! probably because of my loudness back when I was a youngster in da woods.

Hi guy welcome.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Hello, Ryan. Welcome to CPC. Some of us here have been associated with the Department of the Navy in our sordid past. Too bad you didn't get to finish your career with the USMC. But, life goes on and there's always varmint hunting. Tell me, did you ever get a coyote or mountain lion with that bow? I just ask cause I've got the worlds worst luck coyote hunting. Some people say it's a lack of skill but that couldn't be it. Well, Aunt Alta is telling me to get off this computer and round up a couple of chickens to sacrifice so my new Ruger pistol will shoot well. She is a great believer in the old-time religions. :P ;) A17Shooter

Welcome and Semper Fi I live up in Joshua Tree and hunt up here when I'm home on the weekends. If you want to hunt deer and don't mind a heck of a hike you need to go no farther than San Gorgonio mountain ther are lots of deer up there and black bear too. You can hunt predators up here in the high desert or down by the Salton Sea. There all over out here. I've spent most of my time out on the Mojave National Preserve because thats where the guy I hunt with hunts but explore around closer to home when I get the chance. Give me a shout another guy (camo paint) and I might hunt up her on sunday the 26th.
If it flies it dies, If it runs its done, Hook'it, snag'it, gig'it, just kill itFire up the grill cause deer huntin ain't catch and releaseI dig hot chicks in camo bikini's with guns in their hands.

(I get the feeling you two know each other from somewhere)If'n ya don't, I won't let you hear my new FX3. Sounds Perty....Ryan, we share some common background. Both from MI, both retired Mil, both stuck in Calif..........I hang out in Riverside and hunt the deserts from El Centro to Mono Lake, Nevada and sometimes AZ. Also am a member of Riverside Varmint Caller. Check out our website www.californiavarmintcallers.com That SBF guy manages our site.....

Hey thank you all for all the responses, Im looking forward to getting out there and meeting some of you all, still a young man, I do have prioritys though. I'm actually working 2 full time jobs right now, I've been doing it since Oct. last yr. I need to drop one of them soon though. and to be honest with you all, Im not sure which I want to drop? The reason I am going to drop one is because Im going to go to a police academy sometime soon. Theres an academy here in the desert. One of my full time jobs is a security agent at a Middle school In Indio Ca. I work right along the side of Indio Police, and I've been on a couple training operations, with the Police as well as the Riverside County Sheriffs, so I do have to get my prioritys strait. Anyhow not to be long winded, but I do have stuff I have to get straitened out before I can get out there and have some fun, BUT if there is a time when Im not to busy. I will let you all know. Thanks againRyan Woody(WARRIOR FOR LIFE)

I don't know where you want to live but San Bernadino county up here in the high desert around Yucca Valley is short staffed on deputies right now and the property is cheaper up here if you're looking to buy a house and it is alot quieter up here than down there. I lived down there for 6 years after I got out of the corps and couldn't handle all of the noise.

Well smallblockfuelie, Im glad to see that you have finally been called out, (ITS ABOUT TIME).. j/k Yes the two full time jobs are really a crunch to my outdoor advantures, but its only temporary. New to the game, Thanks for the Information, it is very possible that we end up in Yucca Valley someday, actually we were looking to buy up there last year. Coming from a small town in Michigan I can totally relate to the noise problem that we share. Not only noise but just people in general. Anyhow both of you take care.Ryan Woodyone shot one kill
