went and looked at a used Rem 788 222 stainless custom barrelwith a Burris 6 x 18 scopethe gun is very clean/mintybarrel by a gunsmith located in Prescott AZ, can't remember guy/shop name right nowthe serial # is B xxx4174asking $650, from a private partytoo high, too low, give me your thoughts please

Sounds like a decent deal to me. I don't know what grade of Burris scope but they are 3-400 or more new. If the bore is good it should be a shooter. Bill D. shoots the triple duece he may chip in here.

Mr Mister beat me to the question... which is, what kind of "custom" barrel is it? Who is it made by in other words?Even if it is a Douglas or other similar top brand, it still seems too High priced IMHO. If it's a take off barrel, sorry, while many folks like them, I personally do not. The 222 caliber is a fabulous one however....All The Best in Your DecissionFrank

How many rounds down the tube? Is it worn out and the owner would rather sell it than replace the barrel?
