Well, I went out deer hunting on saturday. On the drive in to pick up my friend, I see two coyotes out in the open, in the middle of a field, on the property We planned on hunting B) . BUT, I was deer hunting, and shooting a coyote wasn't going to fill up my freezer, so I headed on my way. I get to my friends house, change clothes, load up and we start walking out to one of the ponds on the property. about 10 minutes into the walk, we crest a hill, and there, out in the open, is a bobcat. Not running, but casually walking down to some thick brush. Had I had my bobcat tags this year, I would have had a perfect shot at it, even if I was bowhunting. It was at most 30 yards away :P . Needless to say, I didn't see one dang buck, but once again, I am reassured that there are other things to shoot on the property! one weekend left, and I can start concentrating on the Yote's & racoons! :P

Boy, and people complain about not seeing anything. Seems someone wasn't very prepared! :o The next time you go back and are all set to do some serious hunting you won't see any. :D It's a guarantee. ;)

someone was VERY prepared, just to hunt deer. Had I popped those two coyotes in the beginning, the chances of getting a deer would be pretty slim after they heard the shots. Since I didn't see any deer all day, I suppose the best choice would have been to take the shots, but then again, I didn't really know that was going to be the case. And you are probably right, if I go chasing coyotes, I will see bucks all over the place, but no yotes. oh well, going to try again a few times this week, and next weekend as well. Hopefully my luck is a little better ;)

bowweevil, of course that's how it works. ;)

Yep you'd have been possibly two yotes ahead. As for the deer, well that's another story. Good Luck and shoot straight! :D

I hate deer season for that reason, all you see is other targets and no deer well no bucks . and when its over with you see lots of deer. ;)
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Well, they aint gonna feel too smart when thier does are all in my freezer and they don't have anyone to get friendly with other than the forked horns! I got a call from my brother the other day, and I forget where he is stationed, but he gets to shoot 6 does and 2 bucks. That sounds pretty good to me! :D

Nope, I haven't called one in, and have only seen them a few times. I am not sure I would be able to get one, so I will keep that money. One last weekend of deer hunting, then I will devote more time to the yotes. I may even bring my bow to Melones in the boat and see if I can get one on shore there. The animals there don't have any fear of boats so it works pretty well for deer and coons, Maybe coyotes too.
