Those are great fish Tim! Those old Panther Martin's are a good lure. Too bad the BIG one didn't take a bite out of your lure.

I have not seen a Calorado spinner in years. I think its time to pull out the tiny rapalas and rebels.

I still have a number of Colorado Spinners but those tiny Rebels and Rapala's might be good too. Are you fishing a stream, pond or water ditch? It it's a stream or ditch trying using your fly rod and letting the lure work down stream into the pools and slack water. The extra length will keep you hidden better and easier to work around objects. We used to fish a Nevada County Water Ditch when I was a kid up near Nevada City. The best bait in the world for those trout were grasshoppers fished on old 12 foot bamboo fly rods. When we couldn't find any the spinners came out.

Back when I was a kid fly rods were used with bait and a Colorado spinner about 6" above the hook. The flash attracted the fish to the worm and the extra length of the fly rod made stream fishing easier. It was very effective.

You seem to know the trick Moe. We did the same using the Colorado Spinners and trailing a grasshopper.

Boy I did not think Shooter could remember that long ago :signs165xk: funny we used to go high for trout less people ,now theres too many people up there. In the local rivers I used to use a small glo bug in front of the night crawler. Can't use live bait now and you can't keep any thing.
