What's better for a bolt gun, a one-piece base or seperate pieces? I did a lot of research a few years back when I bought my Rem 700 308 and the concensous was that one-piece bases offer more stiffness and are better. But they sorta get in the way of loading rounds into the mag. So what do you guys think?

I like the two piece better my self. I don't know but hear that the one piece could/maybe cause some binding how much I don't know and like you said does get in the way of loading shells. How ever there are good sides two they are very ridgid I think used more for tatical use.

I believe it's more important to lap your rings than the bases they are on. Rings that are lapped don't torque the scope and therefore serve as a better platform.
