Hey fellow club members. Drove up to Fort Sage Mountains Thursday night.Stayed in a $35 dollar a night motel.Woke up Friday morning drove onto the begining of the unpaved roads. A large jack presented a perfect target. pulled my Cooper Classic in 22-250AI,turned him into a pile of guts. Pick up his carciss, used it as an attractent.(Is that Legal?) Thru it in the bush set up my first of ten standes. After 15 minutes of Howling a sage brush started running towards me(That's what she looked like at first) I had to reposition my rifle, she saw me started to run away, but stop for one last glance BANG put cross hairs on her shoulder(I hit low) she was at 20degrees down from me 60 to 75 yds. Blew a big chunk out of her chest cavity. She was dead before she hit the ground. It was a thrill..... Never saw another one the rest of the hunt,Saturday woke up it was rainning. went out into field after it quit. Never saw anything.Hiked back to truck and there were fresh tracks near my truck!!!!............... I have a proposel How about a club contest for yotes at the Fort sage mountian range? The range is miles and miles, its an X zone for deer. Any how pictures soon to follow. B)

nice going. ya we need pictures.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Great job Larry. How far from Doyle did you go? Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Larry, congrats on the coyote. :P But at that yardage you shot up or down doesn't really matter much. Especially with a 22-250AI. For a longer shot anything above your feet or below the angle takes arch away from the bullet. That's why most hunters shoot above animals that are above or below them. See for yourself the next time you can shoot some distance to places above and below your position. My favorite drill is to pick a hillside and with my range finder pick a rock and shoot it. You'll be surprised the first time you try it. I bet you shoot over it. B)

Great going Iron Worker. It is exciting when they come in on ya so quickly. Not too much time to think. To answer your question, it isn't legal to have bait out for yotes. Hey Shooter,My favorite drill is to pick a hillside and with my range finder pick a rock and shoot it. You'll be surprised the first time you try it. I bet you shoot over it.I just found that out with Point Blank in Nevada the weekend before last. There was one jack approximately 150 yards out and above me 2/3rds the way up the hill when I placed the crosshairs right dead center. When I checked the kill after the shot, the head was completedly gone and the ears were about ten deet behind the animal. I had aimed in the center of the chest. Interesting to note, but not much fun for the jack.db

Just recieved an E-Mail fron a yote hunter who lives in Susanville. At the Fort Sage Mountain Range A Rancher just gave this guy permission to hunt yotes said there are tons of them. Plus all his chicken were eaten up in a week by Bob Cats. Doesn't that do your heart good. I think I'm feeling a form of lust. C'mon guys lets have our own Coyote tournament. There are thousands and thousands of acres to hunt on.
