Beretta Extrema II. I have the Beretta AL391 Urika and it is sweet, but I have heard the Extrema II is a bit less recoil.

I'm counting on that! Mine will be out of DROS jail a week from tomorrow. :doh[1]: Woodog

I wish I had bought the Extrema II now that my BRAND NEW 11-87 isn't working. The 11-87 is going to be a lot cheaper in the 3" (and I've heard possibly more reliable) And my "bad report" is user error...

Yep, K/O is a must. Bud's Guns has some good prices on the Extrema II right now.

I'll give you my two cents. I've got a Ported Gold Hunter that I shoot Kent Fast Steel 2 3/4" that doesn't kick much but earplugs are needed. You don't need the 3" shells, if you look at the ballistics of the 3" vs. 2 3/4" from what I remember I think the difference is about 15 or 20 fps and about 9 pellets in #3 shot in the lightest fastest loads. IMHO the 3" shells are not necessary and all I can say that I let them come in and kill a hell of alot of ducks with 2 3/4" shells. I've shot the Beretta xtrema and it's a great gun but it's alot of money. If you're just wanting a new gun that's cool but I'd send your Browning barrel to Magnaport and try it w/ 2 3/4" shells first.

I agree with BF. You could have some porting done and add some weight to it. I don't know if they get much softer shooting than a browning/winchester active valve gas gun. My silver hunter is the softest shooting shotgun I've fired. The remingtons have a well known reputation for being soft shooters but it's probably because they're so heavy. My silver is lighter and it still kicks less than my uncles remy.
Sharps, the rifle that made the west safe for Winchester!

Real tractors have two cylinders and hand clutches.

My rifle is mine, it isn't for sale, and I only give guns to people that I really like.

I have a Stoger M-200 that my son and I enjoy for shooting crows. I can't say how it will do on heavy loads since we use trap loads for crows. I picked up mine for $418 and for $50 more Stoger can insert a mercury tube in the stock to dampen recoil. The Stoger has an inertia system that per a gunsmith only requires a detailed cleaning after 1000 rounds. If you can test fire a Stoger with heavy loads that wold be very educational. I also like the m-2000 because it is very light. Hopefully you can fire both guns side by side and see for yourself which one is better or at least equivalent.Leftyhunter

You may save some money, but he is looking for the "lightest recoling 3'' mag duck gun"Everything I have read say's that's a Beretta Extrema II K/O. I have the Urika and it is very light recoil. I wish I had spent the extra $200-300 and just got the Extrema II but I about passed out when I paid for my Urika. Now I don't feel a thing and love my Beretta. In the long run, you can either keep buying shotgun after shotgun til you find one you like, or go get the best all around shotgun you can. You will find yourself not only using this for Ducks, but also Upland Game (The Beretta cycles light loads with ease) as well as flushing Jacks. Then use your full choke and some #4 Buck or T shot and get to killin some Yotes. It really is the only hunting shotgun you will ever need.
