Iron Worker,Gray fox is open until Feb 28th and there are no tags required. You can call them in, HOWEVER, you may not use electronic calls for Gray Fox. Now, that said, if one comes into your electronic call turn it off immediately and continue calling with manual or mouth calls. Ray

Well I'm going to hunt Pigs,Coyote and Fox at same time. I have a Fox pro.So Does this mean I press the mute button if a pig and a fox come in.Or do I pull the trigger? What a stupid law. :) Hey here in the west lets draw up a cartoon.Post it in Al Jezerra maybe that will motivate some law maker to make changes

No matter how stupid the law is, it'e the law. If you call in a gray fox with an e-caller make sure you have a hand call with you, how hard is that? Just in case you don't know, red fox, island fox and kit fox are illegal to take in California, don't want to see you make a big mistake. I have not lived in California for a couple years, so who or what is Al Jezzere? Good luck on your hunt.

Danny, I think Al Jessere is one of those environmentalist newsletters the Republik of Kalifornia publishes. I just can't imagine anyone would want to upset any terrorists by publishing cartoon about them. They don't seem to have a sense of humor!Sheesh! I always have a few hand calls around my neck when hunting. Doesn't take an expert to make credible noise with a closed reed call, and I am the proof.Ray

A couple of us were seeing plenty of grey foxes about a month before the season started, but they've been scarce ever since. Figures...

They're like any animal, lots of them until the season opens and then nothing. The turkeys around my house know what day turkey season opens and they disappear. Must be an animal calendar thing we don't get a copy of. :o

Iron Worker you need to mark the DFG Home page so that you can find the regulations and get a regulations book. I got these from their website just for you. :o What are you going to do if you're out somewhere and don't have use to help you? :P Chapter 5. Furbearing Mammals ?460. Fisher, Marten, River Otter, Desert Kit Fox and Red Fox. Fisher, marten, river otter, desert kit fox and red fox may not be taken at any time. Amendment filed 6-26-96; operative 7-1-96. ?461. Dave, I've got these all clipped and saved. I carry a printed copy with me whenever I go out just in case. If I shoot it I have the regulations for it. :)

ShooterJohn, these new guys should take that advice in a very serious manner. Always carry a copy of the part of the DFG regs that apply to the animals you are hunting and the way you are hunting them. I can honestly say I have never got a ticket when predator hunting and I night hunted alot. The main reason was if I got stopped by a non Game Warden like the local Sheriff, CHP, BLM, USFS, Border Patrol who ever, they could read the rules and know I was legal. Great advice ShooterJohn.
