Same here. Just switched to 50 NBT after running out of the 50 V-Max blue box. They make one heck of a hole. Cabelas doesn't show them anymore. Where can thse be purchased? If you don't mind my asking.I've only shot the Black Hills 50g V-Max's out of my .223. It likes it. No yotes with it yet.

Dean didn't know the price but Win white box has always been a bargain even at a higher price than Costco charged when they could get it. I have talked to no one in the greater Bakersfield area, including Ten Percent Firearms, who is even thinking about non-lead ammo yet. Scary stuff huh?Any idea how much? Depending on price, maybe you could pick me up some since you can go there on your lunch hour.
Also, have you heard of any availability of the non-lead factory stuff?

I shoot Red Box, I have found them at Midway but they won't ship to my door because I live in Sacramento. I ended up getting my last 50 rounds through Cabela's.Same here. Just an update on what the ammo is. I was reading a post by 10% over at calguns and they listed the ammo as Winchester Q3131. That is 55gr FMJ. He also listed a price of $11 a box or $10 a box if you buy 500 rnds. From what I am finding, that is about as good a price as you will find these days. I just don't know if I need/want a bunch of FMJ. I think I will pick up 3-5 boxes though for targets/sighting in. That way I don't have to expend my precious Winchester 45gr varmint (though if the lead ban goes through I won't be able to use them).I talked with Dean Rowden, co-owner of Ten Percent Firearms in Taft, today and he mentioned that they have 10K rounds of Winchester white box .233 ordered and expect it to arrive next week. I think he said 55gr hp, but am not sure. He also said you guys will have to line up behind me to get it!

I stopped by the shop at 2:20 p.m. today and there was big delivery truck there and the driver was walking around looking for anyone who would accept the order. I asked him what he had and he said, "ammo". A note on the door said, "delivery man, call me and I will be there in 10 minutes, Wes". Forgot to mention yesterday that Dean said they were taking a three-day holiday and going pig hunting.FMJ? Forget it! Got more than I will ever shoot.Just an update on what the ammo is. Once you get into reloading for accuracy you will never be satisfied with factory ammo and "good enough" accuracy.I guess if you are doing a lot of competition or target shooting, the improved accuracy would be justifiable. For me, so far, factory ammo has been good enough for varmints/hunting. I'm sure we all lead busy lives, but I have to struggle to get time to shoot.............

These are rough numbers based on .223 1 pound of powder (Varget) will roughly produce 271 cartridges depending on charge but as other components are based on the 100's mark we'll run w/ the cost of consumables for 200 rounds produced.Powder - $16. Bullets - $36 Brass - $40 Primers - $7. ------ $99 10 boxes Hornady Vmax 55gr = $16 (sale price) / 20 rounds = $160. So for 1000 rounds of custom loaded ammo that will guarantee me the best accuracy out of my gun I will save $300. Savings are substantially less comparing against bulk FMJ but that's not a like comparison. This does not take into account the recycling brass nor the initial buy in of equip. which could be from $80 to $250 for a complete basic kit. The savings increase significantly when larger calibers are used.hey, those of you reloading .223, once you have all the equipment (I have a Lee Turret press I have never setup) how much does it cost you per finished round?
