Gained access to this gorgeous 1,500 acre ranch today and it has never been varmint hunted. The lady told me that coyotes and bobcats just stand still 30 yards away when she is putting around on her Kawasaki Mule. This can't be true......right? I may have to change up the exhaust on my Honda scooter to sound like a Mule...haha!Posted Image

Bill, that's is pretty country. Is that an old roadbed or flume running through the middle in the picture? That's about the perfect countryside for cats and dogs.

John - pretty sure it is an old railway bed used during the gold rush era. Looks very similar to the old WV rail right-away along the Merced River. Need to ask the lady more about the history of the area. Finally going to take the 10 year-old boy out this afternoon. Borrowed Dad's Browning Hornet with a Leo VX3 with long eye relief which should work great. Now, I just need to call him in a cooperative coyote. Hopefully, tomorrow I will make it back to the brand new ranch.....been a while since I busted a kitty.

I thought it might be, there are lots of them up in the foothills. Those things are animal highways in that kind of country. I had one on 9200 acres of property I hunted for years South of Merced that was a gold mine in animals. It's great looking property, good luck with the cat hunting.Good luck on your hunt with the youngster today.
