Hey guys, does anyone know how light i can go as far as 30-06 loads go? I bought one to hunt deer and whatever else i can, but i couldn't afford to buy a lighter varmit rifle as well at this time. I want to use it for coyotes, but i could only find down to 125 grain bullets. Is that the lowest or would there even be any point in going lower with a 30-06?

Hornady sells a 110 grain V-MAX that can be loaded into a .30-06 cartridge. That would work for what you want.

I have used the 110 gr HP's in my 30-06 and it blows them up pretty good, so does the 125's but if that's what you got. That's what you use. The 110's weren't that accurate for any long range stuff but worked fine for close called coyotes. I would be inclined to use the 125's as you wouldn't have to load seperate loads for deer and coyotes. Pigs might be another story though..Walt

use soft points they wont blow up as much. I use 130gr in my 270 and only get a 2" exit most of the time, rib cage shot.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Like Nevada Walt, I shot some 110 HP's that were disappointing as far as accuracy went but they were devestating on rochchucks.

Thanks guys, that helps. I'll tell you how the 125's work after this next coming weekend. I'm going hunting and hopefully will have a chance to use them.
