Hi ! I am a new member and my son and I are nuts about crows. We have managed to have a score of 4 but thats a whole lot better then our big game score. Finding private land to hunt crows is a lot harder then I thought. I have two small places where I have permission near Delano but i am always looking for more spots. I have all the basic toys such has a Foxpro 416 and crow and owl decoys, and hand calls. I have a blind but I can't figure out how to set it up even when following instructions.I have some recommendations from a DFG biologist on public land that has crows but of course most crows prefer to live on AG lands. I am trying to access more land and I am willing to pay a land owner a small access fee or buy them a bottle of their favorite beverage to access land to hunt crows. If I can access some land further north maybe I could split gas with someone who is interested in crow hunting. After crow hunting my son wants to try coyote hunting. He has a Savage .243 with a Muller scope so he has the basic shooting equipment but I know coyote hunting takes a lot of knowledge so if someone wants to split costs after crow season April 2 please let me know. What I like about crow hunting is it can be done all year if the land owner giver written permission and can justify why the crows are a proplem i.e crop destruction but not say that they bother the cows in an empty pasture. Thanks;Leftyhunter

lefttyhunter, it would make it an awful lot easier for folks on here to see if they would be able to hunt with you if you were to modify your profile to include where you live. I just don't understand why folks are afraid to let people know where they live. And while I am at it, let me say welcome to the forum. You have found a good place to be with a lot of great folks. How old is that boy of yours?

Oh good man. West LA, huh. There should be some good shooting for varmints there, but you may be arrested for murder. :signlol2iu: But some of that scum sure needs it. Read the posts by Clampdaddy. He does real well with the crow hunting so he should be able to give you some tips. As to where, that is difficult for me, since as you see, I live in Northern Calif and am not much help on where to go down there. Sorry.

Your best bet is to do some scouting. Just drive around in the early morning and late evening and try to spot a flyway that they are useing. This is pretty easy because you can spot a good sized flock from almost a mile away. Try to find areas that are within a few miles of a river or wooded areas. Nut orchards are the best. In the evening they like to flock up and roost in areas with lots of trees. If there is no ag land in your area try to find a flyway that they use to get into and out of town in the morning and evenings then try to find a spot outside of town where you can intercept them.

My rifle is mine, it isn't for sale, and I only give guns to people that I really like.
