I am in the central San Joaquin Valley but I have killed mangy coyotes in Texas and New Mexico as well. I don't think there is any place where the coyote population is totally mange free.
I think you did that guy a favor. Again, great story. Bill, where do you hail from that coyotes get to be so ugly?

It was the .17 Mach2. I am 4 for 4 on coyotes using the M2. First one was in the neck at 30 yards and dumped him. Second was a close head-on shot in the chest with a follow up shot right behind the shoulder as it was running off. Third was 50 yards broadside with a chest shot......knocked the yote down and it got up and fell dead 500 yards later. The fourth was the one in this post. I had not planned on using the M2 on any more coyotes as my testing was done but when it's the only thing you got in your hands and opportunity comes knocking, it will do the job with good bullet placement. I have kind of lost track but I think I am 7 for 9 on coyotes using the HMR......4 killed, 1 lost with the V-Max, 1 killed with the TNT HP, 2 killed and 1 lost with the 20 gr. HP.
Very nice shot! Was that a 17HMR or the 17 MACH2?Jeff
