Blemished bullets are the ones that are once-fired. They have slight markings on the sides from the rifling.

Blems are just that blemished. They have cosmetic defects and work quite well. My wife and I have shot thousands upon thousands of them when we used to shoot silhouette competition and they have accounted for many trophy's all up and down the west coast. We used to get them from Hornaday and Nosler drop shipped in lots of 5000. They are good bullets and I have also shot a handful of deer and elk with them and they performed like they are supposed to....Walt

Walt is right. I've used them for squirrel and plinking loads for years because they are much cheaper. You can find some pretty good prices on them if you search. I might not shoot them in competition but you could. Their prices can be too good to pass up when quantity is a factor.

Heath, it's often difficult to even tell the difference from normal bullets. Mostly scuffs and scratches.

John, Those blems worked very well in competition for us and others. I know for a fact they were used to win the Internationals and Region 6 and 7 Championships and also got the wife the first woman to be in the NRA's Grand slam club in any of the silhouette catagories. She is #4 in the !/2 size catagory..I could go on but they work fine, usualy its a smudge on the lead on the tip of the bullet or a discoloration. Not brite and shiny..Walt

Thanks for the info, Walt. Any good places you'd recommend to buy blems?

Heath, I would just try and contact Hornaday and Nosler. They were pretty good to us years ago and gave us very good deals. But we also would get 5000 of each caliber and grain bullet we used. So our orders were pretty good...Walt
