Hello Everyone,In follow up to the postings of a month ago on the 6V Mitty Max light and battery combination that some of us bought, I purchased the 6V 12 amp battery. I had to buy a few parts from radio shack to convert the battery to a RCA plug, charged it over night and then tested how long it would last. As you remember most of us reported that the 4amp battery that came with the light lasted only 45 mins at best. The 12amp battery that is only slightly bigger and slightly heavier lasted much longer. I did not want to put too much strain on the battery so I did not just turn it on and let it burn until exhausted and maybe damage the battery so here's what I did. I turned the light on for 30 mins, then off for 15 mins, back on for 30 mins. I kept this going until the battery died. The total on time for the light was 2 hours and 40 mins. I consider this a great improvement over the 4amp battery for the additional small $30 investment. I recharged the battery with the charger originally supplied with the kit, so I did not have to buy a new charger. After the second over night recharge, I repeated the same test to see if the battery regained its original power and it lasted 2 hours and 37 mins. I think this light will give you a full nights hunt, if you do 20 min sets and use other head or hat LED lighting to change from one area to the next.Good luck and good hunting.Randy and his pet coyote trained to point and retrieve pheasants.

Good report Randy. That little charger will work fine and is even better for charging those batteries because it doesn't charge fast enough to heat them up. You should be good to go now.

The big question is where did you get the battery? I still don't like the RCA plug. The company, when I complained about it, sent me another plug. What a joke. Won't fit anything to do with the light. They really didn't have a clue about their product.

I posted a 30 AH battery last night. But just check any of the online battery stores or there are several battery stores in Sacramento. Change out the RCA plug to a different plug or clip setup. Jacob looked like he put spring clips on his. They also make blade style which I like because they are very secure. But even a two pronged trailer type plug works well. Here is a 13AH model with the trailer style plug and it's fused to.http://www.batteryma...tterytoy-s.html

My Optronics battery has that exact plug on it. That is what I want to get to replace the curly cord on the Mity Max. I would then have two batteries for either light. I think I am also going to get that one you just posted the link for. My cargers would both work and then I would have three batteries for either light. Thanks for the post John.
