Hey you guys, I had a great duck shoot this past weekend and wanted to share it with all of you... Even though the weather wasn't that great as far as duck shoots go we were definitely in one of the best spots in California. Flying high in the afternoon due to lack of wind and good duck weather, nothing to stir them up. We both got limits and had a great mixed bag. Teal, wood duck, mallard, passed up on some spoonies, drawing a blank but I hope you guys like the pics of my grandfather and I. Any time I get to spend with him out in the field is very important for obvious reasons. Good shooting is icing on the cake when it comes to getting out in the field with family. The blind worked out really well and we decided not to bring a dog out… the 20 gauge we brought out for fun actually ended up working out great for the teal. I can't get more than two images to upload at a time, pain in the ass.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

That's a great outing and to be able to do it and spend time with your grandfather is even better. I sure miss hunting with my granddad. Great times you will treasure forever. Thanks for sharing it brought back so many fond memories for me. :smiley-funny-post-sign: :roflmao3[1]:

Nice pictures, looks like you guys had a great time. I've never been "Duck Hunting" I've shot a lot of ducks out of the dog poop ponds on all my friends dairies, but never actually been duck hunting. Looks like you had a great spot, lots of birds. Congrats on the hunt.

Is that a private club? W/O giving up you're spot, what general area is that? I'm guessing Butte Sink area? The flooded fields look VERY ducky.Congrats to you and you're grandfather.

Hey everyone thanks for all the feedback it's nice to have people around that appreciate a good hunt. You all called it that's for sure, Butte Sink area. Nice ID on that topography Arise. If I'm being repetitive let me know, but I've never seen so many ducks in one place the pics don't do the area justice. Too bad we all couldn't have been there, would have been even better.

Good job 20/20. It's great to get out with your grand dad and I'm sure it made his day too. We use boats at our club also and when it's foggy we have some really lost duck hunters.

The robo duck did really well... Like I said there was no wind or weather so I think it gave the high flying birds that extra something that got them to start working and flying a little lower. Yeah driving around in marsh when it is completely dark can get really confusing. Some people forget their flashlights and get really screwed up. It doesn't matter so much here, but when I was duck hunting out in illinois in flooded timber I quickly realized that if you get lost/disoriented there you're cooked for sure, it can be really dangerous.
