With a break in the rain, I made it back to the ranch where I ran into 9 coyotes on my previous hunt. The rancher sent me across the highway to a 2 section pasture that was unhunted. He told me where 4 coyotes hang out so I set up about 1/2 mile away. Went with the woodpecker for three minutes at half volume then switched to pup distress for a few seconds and back to the woodpecker at low volume. Shortly, 4 coyotes came charging over the rise 100 yards away......they were all abreast instead of the usual single file. The coyote on the far right smelled a rat and veered off but the next coyote took dead aim on the FoxPro FX3 which was 50 yards from my prone setup. He stopped 5 feet from the caller and offered a perfect broadside shot. He was dead before he hit the gound when the 55 gr. SXSP bullet tore into the shoulder from my 788 Duece. The last two coyotes were back over the rise just as I got the scope on them. The trio joined up on a high hill about 3/4 of a mile away and proceeded with a serenade of warning barks non-stop. This started two more groups of yotes doing the same so needless to say, the next 4 miles of setups produced nothing. The country side was beautiful green with little streams of water running everywhere as the water laden hills gave up excess moisture. Looks like a break in the rain for a few days so I guess I'll do a lot of hunting.....is there any other way to live? Posted Image

You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Let us know how it goes.

Well, it was the prettiest day I have seen for two weeks but I went into town and picked oranges for my Dad and trimmed the tree and raked the yard. Guess I gotta do some honest work every now and then.

That story wasn't as interesting Bill. Did you get any pictures of you trimming the tree or raking the yard? I guess not.
