Someone just asked me that question a little while ago and I thought I'd come here to ask the same question. He is ready to buy his first predator specific rifle and is considering a 223, but wants to look into ammo and a few other things before he makes his decision. He doesnt have any interest in reloading. Thanks!

I don't reload either. I hunt mainly jacks and yotes with the 223 and I use Winchester varmint loads. White box. ~$13.00/box - qty 40. They do all right in the Winchester mod 70 I shoot, and the Rossi that Point Blank and Lil'Shooter use.We use the 17HMR's and 22lr for g. squirrels.db

Thanks. What is the pelt damage like when you use that Winchester ammo on the coyotes?

I have never had an exit wound yet. Ryan (Point Blank), got one of his yotes with his 17hmr at ~55 yards. Right between the eyes. No exit on it either.db

From everything that I have read and used... Really can't go wrong with the Winchester "white box" they have 45 Gr. JHP and 55 Gr. soft point. Also, Black Hills in the same configurations gets rave reviews as well... Both are a great marriage of value & accuracy and can easily be found online and at stores.

I find the white box ammo fine for my purposes. I want more coyotes to shoot at. No use having any ammunition in the gun at all if I never get to shoot. db

I liked both the black hills 550gr sp and the white box 55 gr sp. but I reload now sort of but still use a sp 50gr almost never exit.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Good price if you buy a few boxes, otherwise it's 6 bucks for shipping. Wally World has it for 13/box.Db

True, but...WalMart is for a box of 40, CTD is a box of 50! and I belive that it is $5.95 shipping no matter what or how much you order... So I usually just order a bunch or add my ammo to an order when I am buying something else. But, I have bought it at WallyMart too when I need it now and am out! :)

That is what I said. If you buy a few boxes, it is cheaper. Otherwise it is $21.00/box including shipping if you only buy one. And if you need it today, Walmart is ten minutes away. :) By the way, how did the coyote head turn out? Do you have picks?db

Also consider the Remington M7 in .223. A buddy has one and it's a shooter. An excellent carry gun - light and handy. The first time I shot it, I fired a 3 shot, 3/8" group (100 yards from a rest). While he handloads, I've had good luck with the WW Whitebox ammo in .22-250 fired from my 700 VS. It may be comparing apples to oranges but it sounds like those that have used the Whitebox in .223 like it as well.
