So I was out scouting this last weekend for some deer and I dropped into this nice valley. Well I came across something large in the buhes that sounded like a pig. It was grunting and banging on something. I figured if it was a large pig I could maybe call it in with my (KIYI) fawn in distress call( It was all I had) along with a pig tag. So I start making the call and then I hear some turkeys in the distance and the hog stops grunting. Then time goes by and it starts to grunt again. So I continue with some more fawn sounds then I add a few coyote yipes just to spice things up. ABout 5 minutes or so later my buddy yells BEAR at 12 o'clock. There where aparently 2 bear within 20 yards from me and the only one I saw was a 250 lb sow. The other bear was its cub that had climbed up a tree 15 yards infront of me. I hadn't even noticed it. THose things are so stealthy its amazing. So by the time I see the sow coming towards me I am pretty scared so I walk slowly to my friend and get ready to defend myself if all goes wrong. The cub was infront and to the left of me and the Sow was infront and to the right. I could have been a bad situation but the bear saw us and decided that the opposite end of the valley was the place to be. So it ended well we didn't get mauled it didn't get shot and we all had an adrenaline rush. Now I know where to go bear hunting and how to call them in. It was an amazing experience I bought a camera today so I can take pictures for the next time. Nature is always an amazing experience.

My only bear encounter was when i was prolly 15 years old.. (which was only 6 years ago) i was on a fishing trip in the moutains outside of Bishop. My friend and I were walking down a creek back to camp. we decieded to climb out onto the the road for the rest of the walk back.. just as we got on the street his dad pulls up, we get in the jeep, turn the bend no more than 30 ft in front of us and there is a huge bear walking across down to the creek we were just on.. We were so glad we choose to go up to the road cause i dont know what we would have done.. the creek we were hiking was real tough terran and we were on the opposite side of the water to the road.. not to mention the huge climb onto the road.. im sure glad i didn't find out first hand how friendly those boys are.thaught i'd share with ya'll
