Since I heard so many turkeys while out yout hunting...We are planing a turkey hunt...I have a Mossberg 12 ga security pump, 18" and no chokes..But I know thats not a turkey gun plus I dont want to camo that gun, its my home security gun. What would be a good shotgun to get. Semi, pump? I want to buy a used gun with dents a scraches in it already..I dont want to buy a new shotgun just to paint up and use 2 times a year..I was thinking of going to the Sacramento Aurmory and getting the used on there..Any input would be great...Thanks...

Look for a Remington 870 with a full choke and you'll do fine. Just get one without dents in the barrel. :smiley-funny-post-sign:

You don't need camo for turkeys, it's a myth. Those "elusive" creatures aren't very elusive...in fact they're downright stupid. My buddy breeds Rio Grande turkeys (what you see out here in Cali) and let me tell you..."elusive" as they put it in the hunting shows, isn't necessary. I know guys who hunt them in yellow shirts and are more succesful than I am in full camo. With that said...I use my synthetic 870 with a turkey choke and federal turkey load. There's no reason that security pump wouldn't knock 'em down if you wanted to use it. Just get a choke and some turkey load and I'd say go for it.

I was thinking of doing a camo paint job, but the laminate stock on that gun is kinda nice and I don't think it's nessesary. Good luck!

I have a camo sigle shot 10ga turkey gun that's made by H&R. http://www.hr1871.co..._turkeygun_camoI haven't busted a tom with it yet but I realy like it. I mainly got it to keep in the blind so I can reach out and smack those tattle-tail crows that just wont come into "normal" shotgun range. They're cheap (about 250$ out the door), compact, powerfull, and it comes with a superfull choke tube. Turkey hunting is normaly a one shot sport anyway so I wouldn't feel handicaped by the lack of a follow-up shot. You could also just buy a new barrel for your mosberg.

You can find those 870's and the Mossberg 500's for pretty reasonable prices.

......I dont want to bang my mossberg up..

That's what mossbergs are for! :signlol2iu: Seriously though, as much money as you have wrapped up in your AR, you deserve to spend a little and get yourself a good shotgun. If you want a total turkey gun it doesn't really matter what you get because you'll be shooting at a stationary target. I'd much rather buy something that is comfortable and easy to shoot moveing targets with. If I were you I'd go to a gunshop and mount a few pumps and autos that are in or just a little bit above your price range and pick the one that feels the best. Then you'll have a good do-everything shotgun. By the way, that reminton on gunbroker appears to be just a regular magnum and not a super mag.

You might want to double check your Mossberg. I've got one, and if you look on the side of the barrel, it says it's got a "Modified Choke".. So even though it looks like the barrel won't accept a choke tube, it is still choked.. Take another look, cuz a modified choke will still get the job done...
