I don't want to write a book here so, I'll just share a few things that I have been following with blm, &forest service closures. 5-6 yrs. ago all "trails & roads" became the same thing..The four So.Cal. forests are now under the new decision, they decide what access will be granted, many closures are already in effect in the L.Padres...Roads are bulldozed closed, and "new recreation areas"are being built. I used to be able to drive into the forest and camp responsable, enjoying the area thatis funded by the federal income tax that I pay, and by funds from my hunting tags. Not any more..Shooting within the national forest will be curtailed, No lead bullets, no shooting-fire danger closures, etc.Just log onto the tahoe national forest site, look on the right hand side margin, click on" OHV Inventory Project"Blm is also folding under pressure, their website isn't always accessable thru google, but you can get there thrulinks from the Forest Service.Real bummer for all the young kids...

ALPENLITER, I also lived in that area(BURNEY) I'm surprised you didn't get burned out in the fire ! Some of the gates are still open just be sure that you get out before they lock-up at night or be prepared to spend the night.

As a matter of fact, my Dad's place did burn in the 92 fire. I was in the process of rebuilding when another place became available. It was about the same cost as I was looking at to rebuild, so I saved the two+ years it would take to build and just bought the one already built. Have had it going on 4 years now and love it.The gates at our place are locked 24/7. We have a combination lock to get through in case of emergency only, as it is one of only 2 roads to our camp. But they made it clear when they allowed the combination lock that it was for emergency use only, and continued infractions would result in the lock being taken off. This is on a road that we have used for 75 years. But the only we can fight it is in court and we just don't have enough money to fight a huge corporation. Sucks!
