I've read a couple, not many, but a couple references to using vanilla as a scent block for both coyote and deer. Has anyone tried it? From what I've read the coyote love the smell...not to sure about the deer. My wife has a plethora of different smelling vanilla scents, and if it's a good one I'm snatching a bottle! mmmm...cookies

Well, if it doesn't work for coyotes you can always take a chug or two to keep you warm. That stuff has more alcohol than a lot of booze you can buy. When I was a kid the old lady next door would buy a pint of vanilla extract every day and never baked a cookie, but was always happy.

LOL!...I would watch where and when you use that stuff -- high-country coyote hunting, that vanilla would sure bring in the bears!...you might also get other critters coming for a smell or taste...

Maybe I should take the wife to the field; have her light up some of her damn Vanilla candles, and sit by them and watch them glow; course, I'll be in a stand nearby!! I must admit, the vanilla is better smelling candle than some of the junk she burns. Drives me up the wall, as she's forgotten to blow them out acouple of times, and you know what happens when they burn all the way down?? Yep, came close to burning down the house acouple of times LOL.

It seem that if a coyote or deer were able to smell the vanila that they would also smell a human. I am not a fan of cover scents. I just try to watch the wind.

Don't use it while bear hunting I think it falls under baiting + you don't want to use yourself for bait lol.
