I will post one so everyone can see it. Hopefully he will pop in and see this post and share the story with us. I really like how he had enough fore thought to drop it under a shade tree to make the job of skinning a little easier!!Attached File  1.jpg   34.93K   17 downloads

Thanks for reposting this guys. My puter is screwed up and I can't start threads. Anyhoo, I've been looking to get a bear for years. I've been close many times and missed one during bow season 5 years ago. This year looked very promising after seeing 3 bears during bow season, just not being able to seal the deal. I got home Wedneday night from my Wyoming pronghorn trip and had an email from a friend inviting me to his spot in Ventura county. It didn't take much convincing to get me up there since the place is loaded with bears. I arrived Friday morning and we hiked in. He set me up above a canyon and went off to his spot. Shortly after sunrise I could hear bears moving through the brush but couldn't see them. Around 7:30 I saw this ol'girl walking up the opposite side of the canyon and dropped her with one shot from my .300 Winmag. She wasn't a very big bear but was very old. I can't wait to get my letter back from DFG with her age. It was nice having the shade while quartering her but I definitely need to shoot them closer to the truck. It took two of us almost two hours to pack her out.Scott

The game hardly ever cooperates and runs to the truck, DARN! But it will be interesting to find out her age so don't forget to let us know.

The hide was OK but far from great. She had a really nice blonde streak down her back so I'm going to have it tanned and give it to my son. I'm trying to put together an Alaskan spring hunt in a year or so and am going to have a rug done from that bear. After I get caught up on customer's skulls I'll get this one cleaned and post the pics.Scott

Scott,Alaskan bear hunt..man, that is one thing I want to do. Take one of those boats along the inlets and get a fantastic bear. My other dream hunt would be a Yukon double or triple - goat, grizzly & moose. My goal this coming weekend (opening D3-5 rifle) is to hunt 2-days for deer and if all else fails, then try for my 2nd bear. However, if I see that nice blonde/cinnamon 400lbs+ bear within those first 2 days - it's going DOWN!
