This yr has been much better than last for me!!! I drew G-13 which is the high coveted :smiley-funny-post-sign: San Diego county antlerLESS tag and unit 46 Wyoming pronghorn.I'm still waiting for my Idaho elk and deer results.S&S

Had to add to my results...I drew the deer and pronghorn tags above, but also drew my deer and elk tags in Idaho. In an absolutely amazing yr...I put in for 4 different drawings in three different states and drew all four. :signlol2iu: S&S

CH, so let me see...from about Sept through roughly November...you're hunting. :smiley-funny-post-sign: You wrote that you drew 4 buck tags for B zones in CA. Did you draw them or purchase them? :signlol2iu: Good to see you play the game (DFG draws) and have figured out how to draw some tags.S&S

Well we put in for the draw, and they give you alternate choices... We obviously didnt get our first pick or even our 2cd I dont think.. Yep we play the draw game... We have it down to a science.. And actually we hunt from Sept, thru Dec 31... We hit Colorado twice. Once for 2cd season and then again at Christmas for the Migration... This year we are still unsure about Wyoming so might be home more often than last year..

Wow, the "x" zones must have Deer everywhere with how hard it is getting tags in this state!

X zones are some of the best Calif muley hunts; DFG limits the tags in order to manage the mule deer herd. If you draw an x zone tag, you'll have a very good chance of seeing bucks. some of the best sierra country is in x zones and some of it is challenging hikes/packs if you get back in far enough. When I don't draw an x zone tag, I do hunt in areas that border the X zones via my d zone tag. We have seen some good bucks - mainly blacktail with an occasional mule deer and some cross breeds.

I got drawn for a 3rd choice X-1 but don't know the area. I am headed up that way late this week to start scouting and hope to find a place to hunt. I have from Oct 6 until Oct 11 then I have to get on the road to Colorado no later than the 15th where I guide for Elk and Deer on private land with S&K outfitters. If anyone has some tips for me in X-1 I certainly would appreciate it.Raghorn

Raghorn, I'll chk out S&K...I'm trying to draw Wyoming Elk (Teton area) next yr. What area do you guide in Colorado and what's the success rate these days (draw and kill)?...when I was stationed in Colorado, late 80's, I hunted Cottonwood Pass area and had much success for muleys
