Not in CA , I got a great tag in AZ for Elk and a Elk tag in Idaho. I had a friend get an X tag as well, he is all fired up. The bow is ready!

I didn't get drawn either. But then I didn't put in for anything, maybe that's why. :signs1180lq: I'll just be hunting good ol C.

Congrats on that AZ. elk tag! Two of my hunting buddys got that one too (after many years of putting in for it). From what they say, that's one of the hardest out of state tags to get. Sure hope you have a big freezer for those two elk.

Not for Ca., but....one of my out of state successful draws was New Mexico with my 86 year old dad, my brother, and my nephew for a Nov. 10-14 deer hunt. I happen to be at my parents house in New Mexico when I found out the great news. Life IS Great!

I put in for the X7a/b with no expectation...seeing as I had no points. Was planning to hunt the D3-5 so put that as third pick. Isn't that area on fire anyway, or pretty darn close to on fire?

The fire near tahoe is on the South side of Tahoe near Angora. I've been in Europe this past week and heard that a fire broke out and I was concerned as well -- where I hunt D3-5 zone is north and also northwest of the Lake, so I am in good shape. I think all of D3-5 should be okay, assuming that no other fires spark up this summer due to low percipitation this past winter. Summer brings thunderstorms in the higher elevations, so again, cross my fingers that everything & everyone will be safe.

I just got my X7B tag in the mail which was a BIG surprise. I only had 3 or 4 points and applied with my buddy who had zero. He is going to be so excited when he finds out. Anyways we must of just got lucky and hit the random draw. Now to figure out how to hunt the area!~!!!!!!In terms of maps, does anyone have a recommendation for one that covers which dirt/logging roads are open and which are closed (and which ones are not just little deer trails like my gazzetter). I obviously need to do a lot of scouting but getting in as far as possible would be a nice start!!!Thanks

Tahoe national forest has good maps of the area. I got these quadrant maps, hobartmills, boca, dog valley, and sardine peak. I put in for the area but didn't get drawn. Good luck. I have a vacation rental in Truckee and it in the heart of X7B. Check out the classifieds for more info on it.

There are some great X7B areas to hunt ...Hwy 89 north before you get to Jackson Meadows (Right side of Hwy 89 as you go North), past Processor area. My neice shot a nice 3x2 with a 24" spread there the other year...

Here is a n00b question. This is my first year hunting deer in California. I drew a standard D11/13/15 tag. Is that antlered / less tag? I keep looking through the regs and it doesn't state one way or the other.Darren
