Got D-6 also (myself & 2 others in the group ). Have never hunted this area. Any words of wisdom? We'll probably scout it in Aug. Can hardly wait.

D6 rifle season runs September 15th through October 28th, archery runs August 18th through September 9th. I hunted the D5 area one year and hated it. Been hunting the D6 area for 20+ years and we've only encountered 2 bears so I wouldn't bother with a tag unless you know someone with dogs. I think they issue the secondary tags at the end of August or right at the beginning of September, but I sure wouldn't wait until then... The phone number for the DFG Headquarters (License & Revenue Branch) in Sacramento is (916)928-5805 if you want to double check.

The last couple years, went to Cabbage Patch.Don't know the area enough. Both times, logging trucks.End result=0.Had G/F, but she don't hunt.Has arthritis in her lower back. Can't walk good.Plus, she had enough of guns. Was teaching her on my 44 mag RRH,with low recoil ,44 Specials.Don't have the upper arm/shoulder strength for any of my handguns, or rifles. She was doing OK with it though. She says "No more for me."She worries about me constantly. And heard the BS,of hunters visits others for,uh,"playtime".Like that jackass said a few years ago. With the drinking, getting drunk stuff. She believes it.I told her, that not all are like that. What she believes now, is in that gray area.A bear hunt last year, well, the guy didn't call.If he did,I didn't recognise the number. Was to be about 25 miles NW of Quincy. He wanted to wait until a little snow on the ground. Was going to use dogs. And a retired guide.Would have made tracking easier. Now, he won't reply to my e-mails. Know he's busy.Shop Steward.Trying to find someone has been a PIB.I like D-6 better. Been to Deer Creek, a few times.A good friend, lost contact with him.Used to live in Hughson.Moved to Sonora. That was in the mid to late 80's.Was the produce manager with Bill Gwin/Sav-Mor Market.Tried to find him.No luck.If we can arrange some meets, such as Perko's in Riverbank,it's our favorite one.

You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Well I just got my D-6 tag today. I didn't bother with bear tags this year, and I'm going to wait for untill I actually go pig hunting before I get a pig tag.

I was up there this weekend. Not much in the way of tracks. It is real dry up there, even the creeks are dried up. Thinking about going to higher elevation.
