I periodically see questions about quality hunting in the SoCal area and where to hunt. This week I rcv'd in the mail the California Fish & Game magazine with an article on nice big bucks in the D13 area. It was a good read:http://www.californiagameandfish.com/It also has a great report on central valley reservoir fishing for Kokanee...

Lot's of hunting opportunity here in Southern Cal if your willing to work hard enough. I hunt D-14, D-13, and A zone around Ventura and Santa Barbara county. Lot's of deer, nothing spectacular but I saw some taken that are really outstanding.

There are deer if you're willing and able to hike in and then pack the animal back out.

Ortega HWY is my back yard.. I have shot 2 deer there with my bow.. Haven't been rifle hunting there yet. There are lots of deer, you just have to get in there and stay a night or 2 out in the hills.
