Went out early sunday morning, Got to my spot ,was.getting my junk out of the truck when I here a coyote go yipyipyip and a real short howl or long bark . thinking this is going to be easy. he would sdo this about every 3-5 minutes ? was walking to my stand witch was away from him but not to far. he was on the other property across the street.then I could not take it any longer I just sat by a almond tree and just listend for awile 15 minuts or so. he would just do the same thing over and over yipyipyip bark? gave him a chalenge well I think it sounds like it yipyip howl yipyip howl. and this guy went nuts chalenged me right back but there was two of them giving chalenge howls back at me !this went on for a while. they just styed in the one spot. so I just sat there not doing any thing ,they got quite and he started doing the same thing all over again ? . For some reason they did not want to cross the street. I would chalenge them and they would go nuts? but would not move? during one of the calling match I here a contack howl from the south still across the street it meets up with the other two and thier going nuts again. any time I would be quite just the one would go back to that goofy yipyipyipbark every few minutes. What was going on? I have taken 5 yotes from this stand this year, as far as I know they were all singles so I do not think they have been edgecated , well not by me . Played with them for a good hour and a half. was fun . any ideas? :)
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

I think you were busted as soon as your truck drove into the area. When they start doing that, about the only thing that might work is a canine distress type sound. Next time that happens, try making a sound with your mouth call that sounds like a hurt puppy. It can only be done with an open reed type call or diaphragm. Removing a coyote from an area does send a signal to the others.......they are extremely social and know when one of their kind is missing. Killing a dominant male or female upsets the whole social structure of the coyotes that live in that territory and throws red flags up to the survivors. Starting in January and February, the coyotes will start breeding and there will be a lot of shuffling going on as singles are looking for a mate......good time to use your howler. I personally have never had any luck with howling sounds but a lot of my friends are successful talking coyote talk.

What Bill told you sounds right to me also. That Yip,yip, yip bark stuff is their I know you are here and want to let the rest of the coyote world know about it.They wont come in to any call 99.99% of the time then either. The crossing the road thing is sometimes a territorial boundry line and they know to cross it could be an ass whooping be the gang of coyotes that control the turf on the other side of the road. They are very territorial and don't like other gang members in their turf. That's why a lone howl works well and if you get challenged then a howler with a high pitch that sounds more like a 2 year old coyote works well. My old Herbs howler, broken and retired, sob, sob, and my Cronk howler are higher pitched than my Bearman Rick howler and do give me better results then the Bearman howler. Those puppy squeels also get them going after you howl and are challenged, sometimes, as they seem to think someone is getting an ass whipping and like all dogs they like to pick on one that is down....Walt
I like beautiful women, fine wine and poking dead things with a stick!"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous. If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for."Socialism is not a Republic.
