dang it!! ha! congrats on that one...thanks for the well wishes...funny thing before the point system, we had a close friend who drew an X zone like 4 years in a row and we didn't...but when we did, we got our limit. guess we just got flagged in the system :drinks:

I would much rather get pulled for elk. I'd like to go for a Tule. I guess when the time is right I'll get pulled for an x zone though.

My three sons and I put in as a group for X7B tags every year. We have three points and haven't drawn out since the point system started. Prior that we drew out 5 years out of 6.Last time we did draw for X7B, we killed four bucks on opening weekend. It's no trick to kill one up here unless you are blind or just don't go. The trick is to get a tag. My granddaughter is in the drawing for a junior tag in X7B this year and she has a 50/50 chance, which is much higher than we have with 3 points. X7B has less tags available than any other unit but it has the highest kill ratio. It's not uncommon to see 100 to 200 deer a day if you look in the right places.I kind of liked the old system of the blind draw. Less anxiety involved. I believe there are only four or five places in the unit that sell licenses and applications and this last weekend one of my sons bought the last license and tag application in Truckee. If I don't draw this year, I think I'll get a refund and stick to birds and coyotes.Truckeedan

Good luck on the X7B...we usually put in for X7A..and you're right, last time we drew tags, we nailed them opening day too. I have my daughter putting in for the jr X7a...crossing my fingers for her and our grp.

Hubby decided to go ahead and put in for Calif so last night we went and bought the tags at Walmart.. Picked up 4 deer, 2 bear, and a pig tag for me since I didnt have one yet.. Huby and son stil have some that are good til so hopefully we will fill those first. , then today I got to spend my morning and part of the afternoon driving my happy butt up to Sac... I like where the new ofice is though Very easy to get to from I5... Since I we had already paid for the tags, all I had to do was drop them off, and then go inside to exchange the bear application for bear tags.. Was there MAYBE 15 mins.. But for all the people who didnt buy the tags before going there.. The wait was anywhere from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.. The line was all the way out the door, and down the sidewalk to the end of the building and then into the parking lot.. THANK goodness I didnt have to wait in that line :signbummer8tl:

wow! lots of last minute shoppers :signbummer8tl: I bet it felt like Dec 24th or day after turkey-day...I just got my bear tag back last Thurs...check your bear tag number...last year I was the unfortunate soul who had an "odd" number at the end of the tag...odd number means you have to find a DFG agent who can actually take out the tooth when you kill one. This year I was fortuinate to draw an "even" number tag....I am on friendly terms with the local DFG warden in the area I hunt - last year when I shot my bear I high-tailed it off the mountain to get to the Forestry station to have him called in to validate the tag and pull the tooth; hoever, found out that not many if any can actually do the extraction and you have to go to a regional DFG office. Closest to me at that point was Rancho Cordova...asked me to come down...I get there just before closing and the biologist decides to take the afternoon off between the time we called and when I made it to the office...arrrrghhh!! they decided to validate the tag without extracting a tooth...btw, spoke with the taxidermist..said I'll have the hide in 2 weeks now...2 weeks past when he said I'd have it back..oh well...rather have a great job done vs an "ok" job...it's at the ruggers right now

Oh wow! Glad I went last week. Didn't really want to go but all the local shops were either out of licenses or tags :signbummer8tl:
