This morning's buck was a forked horn with really heavy, wide antlers. Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic. But, he reminded me of one that showed up in Feb of '03. The '03 buck was a multipointer. :DPosted ImagePosted ImageI didn't get to see him from the other side, so I don't know how many points he had.

Nice Buck! He looks so old that he is losing some weight. Would make a nice wall hanger.

I've only seen him once that I know of. That pic was back in '03 so I kinda doubt that he's still alive. I'm not a dedicated deer hunter, have only taken one. Most of the native critters that are in the yard do get a free pass. Also the six or so neighbors are only about a quarter mile away so have to be careful where I shoot. Feral critters better move on though. Really don't like it when the cats start feasting on the birds. :signlol2iu: That's when the 17 CatWhacker comes out. :signlol2iu:

Right there in your yard? It just doesn't get any better than that!

Yeah, it is nice. I just had a group of four staring in the window at me. then the furnace kicked in and they spooked. When the crew that redid the foundation on the old cabin was working, they crawled out from under the cabin and counted about 60 in the yard. On the west side there's 119 acres of BLM, south is 275 acres of cattle ranch, east is two ten acre homes, north there's two small home sites and a little BLM. Not isolated but, not a housing develpment either. There are a lot of old gold mines, not surprising in Calaveras County. There are a couple of drawbacks though. :pirashoot: Next time I have to go down in the gully and work on the water system at night with 12" of snow I'll report on some of the disadvantages. :roflmao3[1]:
