I went to visit with the relatives this weekend (in Sonora)for the holiday festivities, such as they were. My wife said no guns.
But I did get to bring my camera gear. Below is a couple of fuzzy shots of one of the bucks I ran across just down the road from my Mother-in-law's place. It was was very dark by the time I got the shot and that is why the image isn't so great. The herd was relaxing along side an old corral for pigs. There were two bucks. This one was the bigger of the two.
We then ventured south and east of Merced to visit with some friends who just bought some property. I called in yote to within 30 feet. It bolted before I could get a shot with the camera. The following day I, while out and about, I spotted something about 50 yards away. I thought it was a cat holding really stiill in the middle of this grass and tarweed field. It looked like a bobcat at first glance, but since it was facing away from me and sitting, not standing, I began to doubt myself. I pointed it out to the person I was with, and they said it was just a stump. I picked up a rock and tossed it at the critter. It jumped up and bounded away fairly casually. Bobcat. . .
