Looking forward to it. Start hitting the gym really hard in June everyday to be ready to run and catch that herd for a nice juicy cow elk!Darren

Actually it's an unguided hunt. We are going to hire a transporter. We will be staying in cabins supplied by the transporter. They feed us 3 meals a day and take us out in boats and drop us off at proven locations.

Sounds fun! Any thoughts or info provided by the transporter about The Predator on the island. I've read they're a little bigger and more capable as a hunter-killer than a coyote.  S&S

Hunt in pairs and use a bigger gun than you need for deer <_<

We are in for Utah- Deer, Colorado- Deer/elk, Wyoming- Deer, and California- Deer D5 and also up north but cant cant remember the zone LOL And in every state (cept Utah unless hubby decides to shoot some) I go after predators and fur bearers. :) Basically I get a small games license where ever we go so I can hunt what I want as well as the deer/elk. Colorado is excellent for elk and deer if you get out away from the people.. Where we go we hit the higher elevation. go up to 10K plus and most people start to get scarce. Avoid the crowds, camp remote, and spend alot of time out of the truck youll find the bog boys :) We use quads and do alot of scoping and scouting.. Like to get there early too if possible. If you are down low watch the rivers and around the private ranches..

Hey guys,Quick question, When and where do we draw for the zones out here in California.

Depends on the zone you want to hunt. For the pref point zones early June is the date for tag applications to be submitted. Other zones that allow for more hunters - say D3-D5, then you can apply later and in some cases with left-over tags you can get a 2nd deer. Here's the DFG website with all the info.http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wmd/
