Being the first year I've hunted duck in the bay area, it wasn't too bad a season. The beginning was brutally slow, but after venturing out and finding a few select spots local, I was able to get out and bring a few ducks home regularly, sometimes even limits (if I was shooting well, of course).. Overall not too bad a season for myself. I have a few pics, but waiting to pick up my fixed laptop tomorrow...

This was my seventh year at the duck club I belong to and it wasn't the best year for us or the worst. On a scale of one to ten, ten being best I would give it a six this year. I normally have about 115-130 ducks by the end and 0-10 geese. I was well below average on both but it was the first year my youngest went out with me so that made it a ten across the board.

I've been shooting the No. Grasslands for the past 15 yrs. We use to be a Sprig club but with the limit only 1 per day our focus is mainly on Green Wing Teal. This year was not quite as good as 04-05 season, that year we shot 1685 ducks with about 75% being teal. This year we shot 1625 with the ratio about the same. I haven't figured out the shooter days or the average birds per shooter day yet but I'm sure it is over a 5 bird/day average. Overall we had a great season considering that we didn't have much weather and very little fog which helps us. Great times are had at the duck club for sure, I think I gained 5 pounds on the night before dinners.

Bzzrd, yeah same with us on the night before dinners. Sometimes when the hunting is bad I go anyway just for the chow and good times hanging out with the boys.

Isn't that the truth... and on those especially clear days, I'll bring my thermos and a little chow to the blind with me.. But as Murphy's Law would have it, each time I put the gun down to pour a cup out of the thermos, guess who decides it's a good time to buzz my head??? ;)

And just think Mike, now you have a predator hunting as an excuse to go the night before...

AugnMike We had a guy a few years ago that chased coons around our clubs. He used hounds and from the end of the duck season till the end of coon season which I think is either the 1st or the last of Mar. he got 93. I was amazed how well he did.

I had a decent one, as far as the killin goes I always try to get one of every "common species", which i did this year i only hunted about 12 times this year normally it is around 30+. My schedule was changed at work and i got sundays off which isnt the bet shoot day. I think we would have done better if we had some fog. But all in all duck season is always great. Now I am starting the grieving process, but now i can concentrate on fillin the rest of my cat tags instead of chasin ducks around. Hope you all had a good season. Mike thats what it is all about bein out there and havin fun with friends and family. You hit it square on the nose. Bryan
