I am in the process of restocking my .223 Sako L461. Am considering either pillar bedding or action bedding. Have done neither to date. What are the pros and cons? Is either worthwhile? Would appreciate comments from those with experience.

I've done both. I've had equal results with a good job with Devcon aluminum epoxy aluminum without pillars
on mid sized magnums.

you can do both. bed the top with epoxy and then put the pillars in. I did it with some of the cheap remington plastic stocks to make them a little more rigid.

I pillar and bed my rifles. I have done 5 rifles so far.
Having access to a Mill and Lathe makes things real easy, but you can use a Dremel too.

Do both. You'll get better result.

Here's the bedding job I did on my 6.5-284 build. It's both pillar and action bed.
