i got my first long range coyote today with the little 223. Was heading up to a calling spot and spotted a young coyote mousing up the ridge. So i took off my vest and sand bagged my rifle ,waited for a broadside and elevated for drop. Touched it off and bang/flop. 437 yards with a 55 gr. Berger bullet. Here is a pic of the coyote and from the coyote to where i was. i was in the little meadow center of the photo..Posted ImagePosted Image

Good shot. Like the area. :good:
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

That is a fur piece for the .223 but it's capable if you are. And you are. :good: :good:

Good shooting Eric! As you can see if you know your rifle it will do the job.

You obviously know your rifle, Eric. Other than that, the 223's ain't any fun or a reliable killer are they? :signlol2iu:

Congrats on a fine kill indeed!!

thanks all. it was a perfect day for it as there was not a breath of wind. Done it lots of times on my metal targets , very hard for me to do in the field. This is the first coyote i shot at past 200 yards with the 223. fun to see the impact thru the scope ,and those legs sticking up in the grass. only done it a few times with success with the 22-250. But have missed LOTS of times.

That's a long poke for a 223 ehd. Hell of a shot... not an easy fate

I did that same shot at 480 yards, but with my 338 Lapua Ackley.

Haven't got a chance Saturday. Something came up, so never made it to the range. I sure hope I'll find time this weekend.
