Wondering if anyone can give me the cliffs notes for hunting up in siskiyou county at night? Deciphering the DFG handbook is not a favorite hobby of mine.

Appreciate it. Its been about 5 years since ive hunted at night up here. Before it was no weapon mounted lights, 9v max light.

Get a map and a hi-lighter marker and map out the boundaries for the night hunting zones up there. I have the SoCal zones mapped out but never bothered with the NorCal zones cuz I dont hunt up there. It's really not that hard to follow along the boundary description on a map.

from what i gather siskiyou county is part of the "everywhere else" section in the regulations. Meaning we are still stuck with 9v lights on foot away from the truck. It doesnt seem to be broken up into zones up here like it is in southern california.

With the introduction of LED's into flashlights and spot lights I should be able to find a much better light than i was using 5 years ago. Any suggestions on a 9v handheld?

It also helps if you contact the DFG person in your area. I've found they may have a different interpretation on night hunting. It also helps If someone calls them saying they heard a shot or shots they already know you are in the area. + ALWAYS have written land owners permission.

I would look at something along this line. LED's have really come a long way!

Just go with a 6volt light. Why make it difficult looking for a 9volt light. There is no noticeable difference in light output.
