I had some free time in the afternoon on Turkey Day (Nov. 22) and so I decided to head out to one of the spots I hunt cottontails. I got there around 1:15pm and saw a quite few the first couple of hours I was there, but nothing would let me get in range before it took off. Finally around 3:30pm I got my first one. Then a little later I got two more nice sized ones. It was a nice 3 1/2 hours to hunt and a nice sunset too.

All were taken with my .25 Benjamin Marauder using JSB Exact King 25.4 grain pellets. :)

Good job picking up a few before you had to leave.

Cottontail, now we're talkin'! Nice going. I was beginning to think I was the only one who hunts on Thanksgiving. Can't wait until Christmas, I always hunt on Christmas, you get the whole world to yourself that day!

Thanks guys. I cooked them up in a tasty Tikka Misala sauce and had them for dinner last night. Yum Yum!!! Even my daughter said it was super tasty. :) Cooked them in the slow cooker and the meat was tender and just fell off the bone. Ahh, good times. :)

Yep Bisley, I try to get out now on most every holiday where others are typically home so that if there are any others out, it isn't going to be many. There is something about just being out there, listening to the sounds, looking at the different plant life and animals that inhabit any particular local, out there with your thoughts... it is very relaxing.

I know I'll be out on X-mas day for sure. I may even take my daughter. I bought a couple of hand calls and she wants to learn to call in the coyotes or bobcats so we can tan a few hides/pelts. My wife says it might be good for her to learn to do that since it will give her something to do and occupy her while out hunting if I decide to take her with me. I think she is right :smiley-innocent-halo-yellow: . I'm thinking of getting a .223 so I can do some predator hunting since I have a bobcat tag. I'm sure that will go over great with the wife.

If your daughter is interrested start getting her out with you. It's great beeing out with the kids. Besides if you get her going with you it is easier to sell the wife on a new gun. But honey it's for our daughter.

:rofl2: :rofl2: I'll have to try that one and see how it works. I can tell the wife that it will allow me to take our daughter with me and give her some "alone" time. :smiley-innocent-halo-yellow:
