Don't know if this is the right place to post this, so please move if it isn't.

I am helping out a friend by shooting the ground squirrels on her property. Long story, but I have to be discrete about it. I've found that longs shoot accurately and SUPER quiet out of my 10/22. But they won't feed, I know they won't cycle the bolt, but I can't rack them in out of the mag.

Is there some way I can modify one of my mags so that I don't have to load by hand? It's a real pain!

I saw in Midway that there's a 22 short conversion, but I don't want to drop $250 on that.

By the way, I'm using Winchester Long Match ammo. My gun sounds like a pellet rifle!

Try searching over at rimfirecentral.com. Guys on that board are very knowledgeable on anything rimfire and very in to DIY stuff.

Off the top of my head I'm guessing the length of cartridge is the problem. Perhaps you could cut down some old brass to the difference in length between 22l and 22lr and fit/glue them in place. You may be able to devise another shim but I don't know if it would affect the internal rotation of the 10/22 magazine.

Buy a bolt gun and shoot subsonic's if you want a real noise reduction.

I agree with John,
Guns and ammo are not the thing you want to Mickey Mouse a quick fix on.
It's just not worth the chance of getting hurt, or worse yet, hurting someone else.
Also, if you need to be so discreate, maybe you should not be shooting there at all.

Thanx guys. I don't have the money nor want to buy a new rifle just to shoot 10 squirrels, I'd love to but am strapped for cash at the moment. The deal about being discrete is that even though she lives way out in the country, one of her neighbors is a real A hole. None of the others have a problem with it.

I'll check that sight out, but am ok with loading singally. I don't want to hurt myself or others, the squirrels ain't worth it!

Thanx again guys!

I'll check those out. The Winchesters I bought were $5 for 50! They're accurate and quiet. If I run out tho I'll try those CCI's. I shoot MiniMags out of my 22s, I LOVE CCI ammo! Good ammo at a good price.
