Try black hole for barrels or barrels and beyond
Keep us posted on what you find I either want the 6x45 or I might do a Grendel since its more available of the shelf and is kinda popular right now. I want something I can hunt deer with here in California too so either would do just fine for me

I have one of his 243 WSSM uppers and I really like it. He is now making some DTI uppers that are the 6.8 SPC necked down to 22 cal, 6mm and 25 cal.

Yes the 6x45 the wssm and the wildcats on the 6.8 case all work in the ar15 frame just different bolt faces accordingly

What if I find a used 223 upper for cheap and re-barrel it?

For instance, I have a Stag upper I bought for about $600, add the scope and mount and I'm sitting at about a grand. I just built a 204 upper, and with everything it's about $1400. Is it $400 nicer or more accurate? No. But it does have a cooler tube and some other goodies.
If you do decide to build your own upper, get the vise block! It makes life a WHOLE lot easier, and will save you any hassles and a couple expletives... LOL

Thats why I'm thinking about just getting a 223 upper for now and when I'm ready to spend another $250 on a barrel, I can switch it out.

6x45 is more popular due to the popularity of the 223 case

I am a nut for 25s but I think I will do a 6 x45 because its all but standard production and many more bullet options in the lighter weight bullets

Yeah it is a 223 case with a 6mm bullet. Run a 223 case through a 6x45 sizing die and you are ready to load em. All you have to change on the gun is the barrel, no special mags or anything like that.

I'll shoot the 223 for a while, then I'll have a crap load more once fired brass to load 6x45's later on. I'm thinking the 6mm 75gr or 87gr V-max's should work nicely

And does anyone know the advantages or disadvantages of not having those things?

I asked my buddy about the forward assist, he was an Airborne Ranger for six years. "You know how many times I used the forward assist? Never, I kept my gun clean and felt like if I had to use it there must be something wrong."
IDK, but I agree with him. I've personally never understood a "flash suppressor" on a civilian gun. A muzzle brake, yes.
