Hi Everyone,

Its been awhile, last week I just harvested my first buck up in D7 (unable to upload my pic, big 7pts). Now I need some good advise from all the great hunters.

I'd be going to Hume Lake this weekend for bear my first time into that area, i don't know where to start any pointers or advise im glad and apperciate.

Don't need to tell me your honey pocket, but give me something that will be promising for hopes.

Last month I saw a major amount of "sign" along the south road near the dam.
be sure you are properly packed for transport
through the National Park and
shooting
unleaded for the Condor Fly Zone

Jeager, Thank you I will scout that area...I am always perpare for a 5mile hike plenty of water and my cage wheels for extras.

UPDATE:

Last weekend me and a budde went scout/hunting for bears. I've scouted southside of the area as Jeager advise me, saw some signs but unable to track cause it was old. We scouted 10mile rd near christian camp along the river saw some fresh signs only if we didn't stop at the dam we might have seen the bear. the track was extremely fresh I went and start tracking him. As result we didn't find him and drive to another spot, I hiked about 1hr and decide to take a water break and small rest. I heard a growl, and branches breaking coming approxmite 80yrs from the thick brushes and tree can't see him and cannot get a clear shot in my bushnell elite 6500. I radio my friend as he was about 5miles away and told me to take a shot if he present himself, I start to follow him and climbed a ridge with white rocks. At 300yards saw a black spot moving down the trail I scoped and it was sure a black bear (appx. 200lb) I'd check a diameter of 30yards around (safety first) and then take a shot at 310yards. BOOM missed 4-6inches high, he start to run took a second shot BOOM low as I can see the dirt splat.

Decided that no need for a third shot probably it wasn't his day to die. so I hiked back to the car and radio my friend to end the hunt as my 270wsm might of scare every animals around that mountain away. Got home around 2pm and enjoy the day with some beer and BBQ venison, and wild pig ribs.

I wouldn't worry too much about your shot scaring everyting away. Lots of times they will jut look in the direction of the noise and then ignor it.

I didn't realize that this creatures will do that in the late season unlike deers and pigs they hear something they vanish quick. But I will put my head up next time see if he returns back
