He was out today checking some heifers that were calving early and found four coyotes eating a newborn calf. Needless to say, he's pretty mad right now and wants every coyote taken off of his property.
I haven't been out for coyotes in over a year because of knee problems and finally the knee replacement surgery in August so I have to find all my stuff, get the batteries for the FoxPro on the charger, get my hunting license, etc.
I'll set up on the carcass at first light and then call the local area if they don't show up.

The cattle farmer I knew lost a couple a year until he aggressively went after the Coyotes . He always seperated them ( females giving birth ) until he saw the yotes in the " calfing " area .

He has a deal with a RANCHER in the area to come out to kill his coyotes,
he even gets paid, and gets free fuel.
We shot a bunch of squeaks, and I had one shot at a coyote. (I missed)
The gun that was shooting so well was off. I was pissed.
We saw one in the blueberry orchard, and one in the alfalfa field.
no shot in the orchard.
We didn't even call, just drove around.

go get em!! did they kill the calf or were they just eating it?
We don't know, the rancher said the calf still had the umbilical cord attached so it was just born. It could be that the calf was born dead or the coyotes got it during or right after the birth.
I got the batteries recharged last night and Im going out within the hour to get my license.

I know I don't need to remind you to take the mouth calls, Frank (but I will (remind) LOL, as anything electronic or mechanical can fail... and usually at the most important time.
Good luck
My mouthcalls live in my truck. They're just like American Express, you don't leave home without them!
Thanks all.

Lol Andy, I am a real cowboy, most cattle people would rather you call them cattle ranchers than farmers lol.
