A Quick Deer Hunting / Water Source Question
Posted 23 October 2012 - 07:56 AM
I wanted to ask this question because a friend of mine that is hunting for his first deer this year keeps disagreeing with me on this subject.
My question is:
How far away from a water source must a hunter be when taking/harvesting/shooting the game animal? And are all types of water (creeks, ponds, lakes, puddles, standing water, etc.) considered a water source?
I've done some research by reading what the Cali DFG has for information and from what I could glean, it appeared that the hunter would need to be 200 yards from the nearest water source. I'm sure I could have missed something (and perhaps I have), but I want to make sure that for my own knowledge and hunting ethics that I understand this subject and pass along the information to my friend so that if he does bag his first deer this year that he does it within the regulations.
Thanks for your patience with me and sharing your knowledge,

I'm going to also take your earlier advice and get myself a pig tag and take the 06 out there with me when I go with my friend. You never know what might come walking through.
