Spent a week in D3 up Haypress Valley. Got my first forky at 50 yards. Still dreaming about it over and over, this is a memory that will last me a lifetime! I deboned and quartered it myself when I got home, still have to hone my skills but I love it. :)

I am totally happy for you. You must still be smiling when you think about harvesting that buck. I know when I get my first deer (maybe next year) I'll never forget it. Way to do the work after the kill too. :) I'm jealous, but in a good way. ;)

Congratulations!

Thanks guys! It definitely is something special. I kept the bones too to save for stews. I wish I knew how to tan, otherwise I would have kept the hide but I didn't..lol. I was using a 30.06 Savage with a 180 grain bullet. Not only did I get my first buck but that was the first time my rifle ever took an animal down! I keep reliving the moment in my head, and won't forget! I sawed the antlers off and poured salt on it, then I will mount it on my bare walls, lol. I bought my first house back in December and told myself I'm not putting anything on the walls, the first thing I put will be a deer or other big game animal I take down :)

Lol wow thanks everyone! I think I told the story over and over this whole week, and it just keeps getting better and better! I got my meat grinder in, and a nice grocery store donated to me some beef fat for the sausages I intend on making tommorow. I will never forget my first buck. :D
