[Air Rifle Hunter]

I just thought I would check and see if any of you dudes (and, or ladies) have done any airgun hunting lately. I haven't been able to get out in a while and it will probably be at least a few more weeks before I get a chance to think about going out again. So have any of you bagged anything with your airguns lately?

I have been lucky enough to work from home (IT) about the last 12 years and weather permitting spend some time each evening sniping on the local indiginous pests in my back yard/woods nearly every day with my PCP collection. Chipmunks, starlings, sparrows, and other miscellaneaous pests make up the bulk of the carnage. My next door neighbor is a squirrel afficienado so I add squirrels to the mix when he is ready to fry up a few and they are in the nine month season. There are plenty of paper and steel reactive targets strategically placed when things are quiet as well.

Had a flu/cold over the last couple weeks so haven't done much. Did an awesome ground squirrel hunt in early September with .204 Ruger and .22 WMR. Had a great time. Supposed to warm up next week again. Maybe I'll go after some cottontails with my R9.

I went out last Sunday with my hunting buddy for some varmint control with my airguns. The ground squirrels were very skiddish as they know of our intentions. We plan on goin back out when the grass/weeds grow because it was really dry, hot and dusty which made us not want to be out there. I also had forgot my ez-up...

I get out every once and a while, I really want to start going out more maybe do a camp out hunting trip. I got some private properties that I have permission to hunt and I have found squirrels, gophers, rabbits, Quail, coyote, turkey and many birds and other pests.

Sounds like you've found yourself a prime piece of private property that holds all those animals. Let me know if you ever want someone to tag along. I can't go for the next few weeks since I'm going as an extra set of eyes (as the spotter) for a hunting buddy who is looking to fill his Buck deer tag, but I might be able to set aside some time in mid to late November though. Just PM me if you are interested.

I love how they hold them selves up they are smart.
i need to start knocking some pigeons down the population is getting away from me.

The way they stand to look around makes them a lot easier to shoot. I get a lot of gophers too and they are a lot harder to see as they only come about an inch or two out of the hole for a split second. I have never gone pigeon hunting but I would love to.

ARH I heading out tomorrow to do a little bunny busting with my pellet guns. This ranch I'm heading to has always been a producer and has a gazillion ground squirrels too, so I should have plenty of shooting opportunities. I'll give you an update when I'm back.

That's why it's called hunting Mac! It it was always a sure thing we call it killing. Still a good day in the outdoors and that beats most other activities.

Yeh SJ I'm getting to see a lot of nice country side this year. Just wish I could put some meat in the freezer. Like I said earlier. This ranch has always been a producer on the bunnies. I saw plenty of various scat that all looked fresh, deer, pig, coyote. All of the Juniper bushes were dropping their berries and the pig scat was so full of them it was pink.

On a side note, I stopped by the penny bar in McKittrick on my way home and got to meet the owner/creator Mike. If any of you are ever in that area you got to check it out.

I've seen pictures of the Penny Bar. They say there is a million pennies covering the inside of that bar.

Mike Moore is the owner of the McKittrick Cafe and Penny Bar. I happened to be lucky enough to meet him while i was there and talked to him a bit about his creation. He said that it has taken over a million pennies to create the bar (that works out to over $10,000 in pennies) and that to have enough pennies on hand, he would go down to the bank and get boxes of pennies for $25.00. He also said it took him over 6 years to make. If you've ever been to McKittrick you could see where somebody might have that kind of time on their hands.

Niice. I picked up a AA 510 Carbine thumbhole a while back in .22. I really like the gun.  It rivals my Air Ranger in most regards but is so light. I added a Clague on it.

I am new to the forum.  Last week I got my new air rifle zeroed in and am very excited about going out hunting cottontails this coming Tuesday.  I will report back.  Hopefully the area will be good.  Fingers crossed . . .

I went out with my air rifle yesterday to a couple of regular spots in the Angeles National Forest.  I had a really late start and arrived at the first spot about 10 am; I usually see some bunny and quail activities in the past but it was pretty dead.  Same thing happened with my 2nd location.  I stayed until about 1 pm and decided to head home.   I got skunked but it beats being in the office.
