there is a wolf that came into Calif from Oregon and has been in the area...bear season starts on Sat and they dont let their dogs run down roads solo...bear dog law goes into effect next year...we weren't the only hunters to see wolf tracks...where
there is one there are surely more...

Thats not a wolf or dog thats a lion track.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Lol or his brother, it is just a mater of time before we have them. Then our elk and deer herds will be in worse shape. Gota love the way California manages the wildlife lol. Heck the bear, coyote and loin have raised havoc with the deer already. Coyotes and bear eat a lot of fawns. Ed

Your right Ed. This summer we saw increased evidence of bears coyotes and lions killing fawns in the Mt. Lassen area and all we need are wolves to join in the fray taking more. A local rancher lost three newborn calves in 48 hours to a large cinnamon colored black bear I saw twice about a week before the kills. I didn't see that particular bear again which was perfectly fine with me.

It's only gonna get worse once the bear hunters cant use dogs.....and probably only a mater of time before they decide that using dogs for pheasants and waterfowl is also cruel and in humane.

So here's my question....what if one of us comes face to face with the wolf or wolves....what will you do?
1. shoot and don't tell?
2. slowly walk away pretending you didn't see it?
3. fire a warning shot to scare it away?

Bret, most ranchers and hunters in this area would choose #1. ED

Last year while returning from Bear mt lookout in the Pondosa area I saw a wolf in the Tom Young flats area, at first I thought it was a coyote but it was way to tall and had large feet. It was standing in the road as I rounded a corner, it was just standing there watching my truck approach, when it decided to leave it loped off the road into the woods. This all happened in a few moments from a distance of about 25 feet. this all took place before OR-7 came into CA and this was not a coyote.

Matt, there have been reported sightings in Modoc county too. All before the OR-7 wolf showed up, but no sightings of packs just a lone wolf. Last year in Fandango Valley I rode up on 2 coyotes, thought at first they were wolves, biggest damn coyotes I ever saw. bet they weighted around 60 lbs each. I rode within 25 yds of them, lol didn't have a gun, just a rope and my horse couldn't or didn't want to catch them lol. Not sure if a coyote and wolf would cross if so that might explain what I saw.
