Well my grandson got his first buck monday evening. I was just a forkie, but he made a good shot. The buck was about 100 yds, hit him just behind the left shoulder, buck ran about 20 yds and piled up. He will be good eating for sure. The kids dad, my son, talked him through gutting and skinning it. So it was a good learning experience. Lol I told him now that he has one under his belt he can pass up those little bucks and become a horn hunter lol. His dad drove him down to Redding to meet a friend who will take him home so he can go to school and football practice. Lol he is a first string lineman on Sutter's JV and will probably get pulled up to Varsity for the playoffs. Proud of him, straight A student and just a nice kid. Him and his dad helped me cut and haul 2 cords of wood yesterday. Ed

Yep, Congratulations, Ed, to your grandson.... and his dad & you... All in the family type of thing. :good:

With hunting, school, sports & work it doesn't sound like he'll be getting bored any time soon. lol (a good thing) uh, you did just "supervise" the wood hauling, right? I mean, I got worn out just "reading" about it. lol

Anyway, :signs1180lq:

That's great! :good: It sound like both you and your son have done something right if your grandson is doing well academically while also competing in extracarricular activities after school. Very impressive and anytime you can share a childs first of any positive achievement it is something that those involved with alway remember. :) Congratulations. :signs1242cn:

Ed, it sounds like you have a grandson to be proud of. It also show that you and your son have been great influences on him. Tell him, "Congrats."

Thats too cool. :good:
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

A forkie or a 30" 4x4, it does not matter. He did it, did it right, and did it well. Congratulations to all of you.

I was hoping to be able to follow up with a similar post about my son getting his first deer any day now, but the dang kid fell hard playing tag in the dark at a scout meeting last night and broke his arm in two places.... :-(

He shoots right handed and it's his left arm that he broke so there may still be a little hope. If you're a prayin' man, say a quick one for him to one day be able to tell his son he shot his first deer with a cast on his arm. :-)

Kids who hunt and fish, don't grow up to rob old ladies.
